The Elephant Chess Club has introduced the world’s most popular board games to new markets. Xiangqi and shogi are now available in international forms so that anyone can play. Xiangqi is considered by experts to be the world’s most challenging chess variant and is played by hundreds of millions of enthusiasts in East Asia. Shogi is a unique game enjoyed by tens of millions.

Chinese chess, also known as xiangqi, is the world’s most popular board game and hasbeen played throughout East Asia for over 1000 years. The playing pieces have traditionally been identified using Chinese characters, so only those who could read Chinese characters could play. Now Chinese chess is available in a set in which the pieces are identified by symbols on one side and Chinese characters on the reverse side so that anyone can enjoy this challenging game of strategy. Each set comes complete with a diagrammed instruction manual.

Shogi is a chess variant which developed in Japan and has been largely limited to Japan because the playing pieces are identified using Japanese writing. Shogi is unique from other chess variants in that captured pieces can be re-played, and that most pieces can undergo promotion This game is now available in an international version in which pieces are identified using symbols and colors.

All sets come with a diagrammed instruction manual.

Internationalized Xiangqi Large Wooden Xiangqi Pieces with Plastic Mat features a plastic playing surface and wooden playing pieces (5 cm diameter). All playing pieces are double-sided. One side has traditional Chinese characters; the other side has symbols. Above picture shows the symbol side of the playing pieces.
