This ancient version of chess was played on a round board long before Mad Queen (modern) Chess. The circular and square boards competed for more than a thousand years, and originally, the Queen was a glorified King, moving only two spaces in each direction. This two-player game adds excitement for any chess player: Imagine a castle putting a King in check from two different directions at the same time. It is no longer possible to fight one front battle. Each player must protect from the rear, because an opponent can attack from either side.
