Soler Collectibles: A Die-cast Showroom

By Julia Ann Charpentier
March 2004

Located in St. Paul, Minnesota, Soler Collectibles is one of the leading die-cast dealers in the country with over ten thousand Hot Wheels in stock.  Not bad for a store that just opened its doors in 2001.

"The store is a run-off of my hobby: selling at car shows and on the Internet," Owner William Soler says. "We built the website in 1997. Our inventory changes almost on a daily basis to keep up with the needs of our customers."

Cars fill the walls of the store, creating a hands-on experience for customers. Soler carries the latest line of Hot Wheels, including 100% Hot Wheels, collector sets, limited editions and promotional pieces. Display turntables, vintage holders and plastic cases round out his stock. His customers, who range from 25 to 55 years of age, "come from all walks of life," Soler remarks.

Among Soler´s limited editions, the die-cast connoisseur will find one-of-a-kind collectibles such as the Chuck E. Cheese Fat Fender, Red and White Fire Passions and Mother´s 33 Roadster. His collector sets include the Designer Dream III, Lead Sledz II, Fabulous Fords 100 Years and Route 66. The most unusual "hot" collectible is a 1/24th scale MSRA Back to the ‘50s ‘32 Ford Roadster. For the classic car lover, Soler´s 100% Hot Wheels catalog showcases a ‘53 Caddy, a ‘57 Chevy Ranchero, a ‘34 Ford Lakes Coupe and a ‘32 Ford Sedan.

Soler also offers other lines of die-cast, such as Johnny Lightning, Muscle Machines and Ertl. "We attend many die-cast shows and conventions throughout the year,” says Soler. “This gives us the opportunity to keep up with the newest and most collectible items on the market."

His website attracts international clientele. "We have collectors in Japan, England, Germany and many other countries."

For hard-to-find models, Soler Collectibles offers an interesting variety, such as Legends, Greatest Rides and Milestone Moments Hall of Fame Hot Wheels. Originals, Cruisin´ America, Auto Milestones, and Stunt Track add to the selection. Promotional cars from the Red Rooster restaurant in Australia, along with the 2001 Australian Holden, are imports that are likely to appeal to the die-hard collector.  Soler also offers “Editor´s Choice” Hot Wheels, posters and playing cards.  Monster Trucks will soon be roaring onto the shelves as the newest addition to Soler Collectibles´ miniature car lot.
