John Murphy’s how-to book comes with a 12-page graphic novel that features the creations in the book. The toys themselves have wings, horns, tongues and tentacles and are supposedly easy to make.

At least one toy takes less than an hour to create, a plus for kids who are making toys or helping parents to make toys. Cindy Crandall-Frazier’s book has plenty of illustrations and received the crafting “OK” by Creative Machine magazine, a publication of interest to needlework machine aficianados.
