Product Description

About the Author; Roger Price and Leonard Stern created Mad Libs in the 1950s and the series has been a favorite among kids of all ages ever since. Although Roger Price passed away in 1990, Leonard Stern keeps the tradition alive by writing new Mad Libs all the time. Roger Price and Leonard Stern are both well known for their comedy writing. In the 1950s Roger Price created and developed cartoons called Doodles, which were turned into a television show. Before that Price worked with Bob Hope on a newspaper humor column, and he even appeared on Broadway in Tickets, Please! Leonard Stern has an equally colorful and varied history. Before co-founding Price Stern Sloan with Roger Price (Sloan came later), Stern was a successful television writer. In addition to his creative involvement with over twenty television series and over ten motion pictures, Stern worked with Jackie Gleason in New York writing the Honeymooners. He also wrote for the Phil Silvers Show, The Steve Allen Show, and wrote and produced the original Get Smart television series. Recently, Stern published A Martian Wouldn't Say That, which compiled weird and wacky memos written by people in the entertainment industry. Currently, Stern serves as a senior vice president of Price Stern Sloan, where he still writes those hilarious Mad Libs. copyright 2000 by Penguin Putnam Books for Young Readers. From the Manufacturer

First, a crazy definition is read to the group. Next, players use the wacky word parts to create wildly funny new words to fit the definition. Each new word is read out loud, and the "Wordmeister" picks the best one. Faux·Cabulary—it's where new words come from.

Absolutely Ridiculous
Got a rowdy group which loves funny, clever, outrageous words? Love Urban Dictionary? The this is your game. You will be shocked by the hilarious combos that come up and often enough fit the definitions just too perfectly. It's crazy and the more you have (up to 7), the merrier!!

This is a great game to play with family, friends, or a group you do not know very well. Given the simplicity and fact there is no "right" answers, all ages can enjoy.

I bought this game 6 years ago and wondered why we only ever played it once. Then we played it for the second time last night with 4 adults in their 30s. Now I remember why we don't play this game.

You try to make fake words from a bunch of dice. You're not supposed to look at the dice when you take them out of the box, so out of the gate you're limited on your word combinations. This often results in words that don't really make sense per the topic, or just aren't funny.

The other problem we had is that the little plastic trays that you're supposed to cover your dice with allow the dice to slide around inside when you push them across the table to the reader. This resulted in dice moving out of position of the word fragments we selected.

We lasted about 15 minutes on this and decided it was a dumb game. I can't recommend it to young/middle-aged people that enjoy more risque games (Telestrations, Exploding Kittens, Cards Against Humanity, etc.).

We love this game! It is super simple, easy for any age, even my autistic son loves it because it is total nonsense. My only complaint is that I got a used game. The reason for my one star rating, I would have given it less that one. When it showed up the box was not sealed shut and you could see where the taped edges had been sliced open. The box top corner edges were cracked, the cards on the inside were open and already in a tray meant to hold them while playing the game and the tray was also cracked and won't even hold the cards. Some of the cards, were not only bent, but you could tell they were held by dirty fingers. You know that little crud left behind by dirty fingers??? Yep, all you moms know exactly what I am talking about. YUK! So while we love the game, and I would totally recommend it, I am super peeved that I paid a decent amount of money for a NEW game and received a dirty USED game. NOT COOL AMAZON! You are usually on point and I really appreciate it, but you totally dropped the ball on this one. Not happy!

The dice in the game do not match the expansions. I'm usually not very picky but it's a bummer. Not sure which are irregular or which to exchange. If they are all like this that would be very disappointing. Also feel like there are to few dice. Obvious intentional upsell to expansions. Game is decent. -1 star for dice color issue. -1 for too few dice IMHO

This is a fun game, very similar to Apples to Apples. You have to make fake words made out cubes (from 1-3) with pre-printed syllables on them. Then a word-meister votes on the best word the same as Apples to Apples. It is a nice change, and no one can cheat because it is subjective, you have to play to the personality of the person judging the words. Very fun.

My family loves to play games together durning the Christmas holidays...we always purchase a new game each year. Fortunately a few games were purchased. We tried for an hour playing Faux-Cabulary and none of us found it interesting or fun. My daughter and her daughters always makeup words so I thought this would be great for their family......we were all sooooo disappointed.
