From the new b2 division of Blue Box Toys, which focuses on the tween market, comes MI-JAM, a product line that brings the fun and excitement of making music to kids. MI-FLOWER starts to groove when plugged into an i-Pod as its nine petals reflect the mood of the music via flashing LED light patterns and animation. Its LCD display face smiles to the sounds and its leaves perk up to show that it’s digging the music.

This is the latest from Blue Box Toys’ line of 21st century music makers for kids. It features two drumsticks that can be plugged into i-Pods and used to drum, making noises like Ginger Baker, John Bonham and Ringo Starr all rolled into one. Kids can either play along with their favorite songs or create their own.

The Mi-JAM guitar is a white plastic electric guitar without strings designed specifically to play along with an iPod, MP3 or other digital music players. In stand-alone mode kids can play their own music. When switched to accompanying mode the guitar can be used to jam alongside favorite musicians. The guitar has a “strum bar” that makes picking notes, riffs and chords as easy as it would be with a real guitar. However, this guitar offers four sound styles, including heavy metal, blues, acoustic and rock, that are selected with the push of a button on the guitar body. The fret board on the neck features four sensors, which allow kids to play the basic chords and riffs appropriate to each music style.

This mini guitar allows users to jam with digital music devices such as iPods and MP3 players. It features a selection of background rhythms and sounds that can be played on their own or combined with other music. It requires two AAA batteries (included). “The iPod market is very hot right now, [and] what sets us apart from other iPod accessories is that we are a musical instrument line that is small enough to fit in your pocket and perfect for traveling,” Junior Account Executive Jennifer Romer of Bender Hammerling Group told TDmonthly. The drumsticks are air drummers, meaning there is no need to hit them upon a surface. They connect easily to most music players with a headphone jack.
