Florida's School Choice Reaches 429
Florida's universal school choice initiative has seen a 277% increase since 2023, now enabling an estimated 429,000 students to utilize private, charter, or home school options. Following President Donald Trump's return to the presidency, federal efforts have intensified, including executive orders in early 2025 aiming to expand federal funding for various school choice options. Additionally, a provision in the recently passed "One Big Beautiful Bill" establishes a national K-12 scholarship tax credit program from 2027, offering a dollar-for-dollar tax credit up to $1,700 for donations supporting student scholarships.
