Bernard by THE GHOULISH GALLERY
Bernard, the Beef Jerky Baron of Baltimore, was an independent businessman whose small meat smoking plant turned into global empire almost overnight. Unfortunately, as his beef jerky business became more and more successful, his love of money became more and more apparent. He cut his workers lunch break to only 15 minutes, then cut their pay by nearly two thirds. He wouldn’t allow them to take any time off unless it was a federally mandated holiday. He even refused to open the windows in the sweltering factory because it would cause his industrial smokers to become less efficient. But perhaps worst of all, Bernard wore the finest Italian made suits while his workers barely made enough money to afford patches to cover the holes in their worn out clothing. Something had to change…and it did, late one October night.
As Bernard was closing up shop for a long, federally mandated holiday weekend, he was pushed into one of his beloved industrial smokers and the door was shut and locked behind him. When his body was discovered that following Monday, the smoker has slow cooked him into a 6’2” slab of jerky. Indeed, Bernard had now become the Beef Jerky Baron of Baltimore. 3/20/2007
Belladonna by THE GHOULISH GALLERY
It’s said that little girls are made of sugar and spice and everything nice. Not BellaDonna. A child prodigy on the subject of poisons, Belladonna’s interest in caustic concoctions stems from a Christmas Eve incident when a twig of mistletoe fell into her Aunt Isabella’s tea. While it didn't’t kill her beloved aunt, it did cause her to go insane. Recognizing the cause and effect principles of the incident, Belladonna immediately began having tea parties for the other children in the neighborhood, making special house blends from plants like, bane berry hemlock, oleander, and nightshade. Soon, she had no friends to speak of so her parents decided to move to a better neighborhood. Because of this move, Belladonna was never implicated in the mysterious deaths of the neighborhood children. Surprisingly, there were no mysterious death of children in her new hometown…but it did become suspiciously void of and household pets mere months after their arrival. Not so surprising is that Belladonna grew up to be an herbalist…and she’s rumored to make a strong, but comforting, cup of tea for patients with terminal illnesses. 3/20/2007
