American Animation Studios' vision - history as entertainment and entertainment as history - supports schools in their uphill battle to teach the events, concepts, and values of American history to school children. Although history tests scores for 4th, 8th, and 12th graders have risen slightly since 2001, the U.S. Department of Education's 2007 "Nation's Report Card" documents that more than half our high school seniors have only a weak command of the basic facts of U.S. history. Several studies also report that fewer classroom hours are being spent on history, due to the math and reading focus of the No Child Left Behind Act.
