BAFFLE!® provides an entertaining activity for developing spatial reasoning, and does so in a critical thinking, problem-solving context. The game requires advanced planning in a manner similar to the game of chess, but is much simpler to learn. It's so simple, in fact, that even primary grade children can learn. That does not mean that it's simple to master! The game requires strategy, reasoning, and organizational skills if the puzzle is to be solved. And solving it once is not the end. There are many potential solutions, and the player is challenged to identify those additional solutions after finding the first.

The game board (except for BAFFLE!® Junior) consists of a 5 x 5 grid of squares. The 25 game pieces include 5 shapes in 5 colors.

In BAFFLE!® Classic, the game board is entirely blank to start. You win when all 25 pieces are on the game board and every vertical column, horizontal row, and corner-to-corner diagonal contain one piece of every shape and one piece of every color.

There are 57,600 possible solutions for BAFFLE!® Classic alone to keep the game interesting no matter how many times you play it, whatever your skill level.

The Baffle!® game board consists of 25 squares aligned into 5 rows and columns. In all versions of the game, except Baffle! Junior, all 25 squares are used for play. The 25 game pieces include 5 geometric shapes (square, star, triangle, hexagon, and circle) in 5 different colors (red, green, blue, purple, and yellow). The 60 cards in 3 levels of difficulty can be used to add another playing dimension to Baffle!® Classic. The player resets the board with game pieces according to the positions on the card, and then play begins.

To move a piece, use your mouse to click on the piece you would like to move, drag and drop on the square of your choice by releasing the button on the mouse. You have four choices for every move during the game:

1. Place a game piece on an empty square.
2. Remove a game piece.
3. Swap two pieces on the board – drag one and drop it on another.
4. Swap an unplayed piece with one already on the board – drag the unplayed piece and drop on the piece on the board.
