Each player moves a family of four pieces — two parent pieces and two kid pieces. Each family moves around the town (i.e., the game board) collecting treats and avoiding tricks while always keeping the kid pieces four spaces or fewer from at least one of their protective parent pieces. Some players get a kick out of using the Trick or Treat cards to play tricks on their opponents to increase their own chances of winning, whereas other players prefer to use their Trick or Treat cards to help themselves. Options and strategies change as the positions of the playing pieces change on the board. As the game progresses, there are more options to consider. Players may have from four to 32 (or more!) choices from which to decide their next move. Tricky Town is exciting and is also a safety lesson in disguise. At the end, the player with the most treats wins the game. “Games have had such a resurgence recently because people want to connect with each other as well as nurture the family unit,” said Laura Cipullo of Kelmar Games. “Tricky Town fits into this trend precisely because the nature of the game encourages parents’ participation.” This multi-award winner was selected Best Family Game 2007 by Games magazine.
