Piecing Together Geometric Puzzles

Most people believe the greater number of pieces in a puzzle, the more difficult the puzzle will be. But that isn’t the case with puzzles designed by Andy Snowie of R & A Media (ToyShow).

Snowie’s three-dimensional, geometric puzzles are made of just 12 pieces of Canadian Eastern Yellow Birch or Walnut wood. Except for the 1.5-inch, pocket-sized CalmPlex Cube, most puzzles are approximately 3 inches tall and have a recommended retail price of $35. The puzzles have been tested and enjoyed by people from preschoolers to college students.

The puzzles are deceptively simple: a Cube, Sphere, Pyramid and Cylinder. As you try to construct your puzzle, it becomes clear that it won’t be so easy, even with 12 pieces. Snowie’s puzzles are addictive, though notoriously difficult. For those who fail to unravel a puzzle’s mysteries, R & A Media maintains a website with hints and puzzle solutions.

R & A Media has recently made the transition from hand-made construction to factory construction. After six years of being available only through the company’s website, the puzzles are now available wholesale, with discount offers for educational institutions.

You can find more information about the puzzles at calmplex.com.
