SnackTracker Gets on Track!

“We didn't want to be one of those parents who had a child that ate only chicken fingers and French fries.” Gina Luttrell, Laret Enterprises
It took only a year for husband-and-wife team Todd and Gina Luttrell to develop and produce the SnackerTracker, a system designed to help kids consider health and nutrition from toddlerhood. Will Laret Enterprises make the cut for TDmonthly Magazine’s Toy Frenzy! documentary at Toy Fair 2008? Time will tell, but in the meantime, read their story below:

My husband Todd and I founded our company in December of 2006. We sold our first SnackerTracker by December of 2007. From idea to inception, and everything in between, we brought our product to the market in one year — all while both working full-time jobs and being the busy parents of two children.

LATE NIGHT SPURS IDEA

The inspiration for the product came in the middle of the night. I was on maternity leave with my second child and one night as I was feeding her, I thought up the SnackerTracker. I didn't sleep for three days, thinking about all the great possibilities for this product.

The SnackerTracker is a large colorful magnet that sticks to your refrigerator or any magnetic surface. Each day as your child eats the appropriate servings of food and performs some physical activity, you simply cross the item off your SnackerTracker.

The product also comes with the SnackerTracker Nutritional Guide, which educates parents on the basics of following the recommended daily food intake for children, gives examples of healthy food children can snack on, provides tips on how to incorporate activity into busy lives, helps each parent decide what is right for their child, and explains exactly what to look for on the Nutritional Facts label of packaged food.

BALANCING PICKY EATERS

Like many parents out there, we have a toddler with very picky eating habits and we needed an effective and simple strategy to make sure she was getting all the nutrition she needed. We didn't want to be one of those parents who had a child that ate only chicken fingers and French fries by the time she was 5. When my husband and I couldn't find something kid-friendly, parent-friendly and easy to use, we invented it.

We designed this product to help every parent meet the challenges of providing well-balanced diets to their children and teaching them to make healthy nutritional choices.

KEEPING HEALTHY YOUNG

Specifically designed for children, SnackerTracker is the only nutritional tracking system that starts at age 2, when critical eating habits are being formed. The product allows parents to teach their children the importance of an active and healthy lifestyle, while allowing their children to contribute on a daily basis. We put kids in control through a fun and interactive nutritional tool that allows them to chart their daily successes.

With all the information out there today about childhood obesity, our product, I'm confident, will be a winner in households across America.
