This expansion requires the CATAN base game to play. CATAN Explorers & Pirates introduces five new scenarios that expand on core gameplay, allowing players to explore uncharted waters by ship and establish settlements on newly discovered islands. The modular board design ensures varied gameplay with high replay value, as no two sessions play out the same. Compatible with 3–4 players (up to 6 with additional expansions), the game supports social play for families or gaming groups, including remote play via video chat. While the core rules can be learned quickly, the strategic depth sustains long-term engagement. Organized CATAN tournaments offer competitive play opportunities.
