Another installment in the "Asian Folktales Retold" series, this book contains two lively folktales from China that explain to children how the world began. This is according to the legend of how the Chinese zodiac of twelve years came to have the symbols of the animals that it has. These folktales were told by Miwa Kurita to folktale resarcher Keiko Nomura who found that the stories transchended borders and nationalities. She was motivated to publish them to open a window into the heart of Asia for everyone.
