Wow Wee is known for its robot dinosaurs and other heavily boy-oriented stuff, but here’s a change. A cuddly robot? Yup, the RoboPanda is an interactive, infrared and touch-sensitive, accelerometer-installed product of the 21st century that can tell stories, recognize its playmate, track objects, avoid obstacles and more. The Jetsons are now. It even has “moods.” It stands almost 2’ high and is just the right size around for hugging. David at Wow Wee was at a loss for more details, but said he’d been inundated with questions: “I don’t know anything other than lots of people seem to want to find out about it.”

Wow Wee adds another unique product to its incredible line of robotic creations with its invention of an animal robot called Robopet. This robotic puppy can sit, roll over and give paw if asked and can even interact with its owner and environment. Robopet also is intelligently equipped with sensors that detect sound and also has infrared vision.

Standing at around 14” tall, this second-generation robot was designed by robotics physicist Mark Tilden to surpass its predecessor, Robosapien, with improved articulation and more than 60 pre-programmed functions, including picking up, throwing, giving a high-five, whistling and dancing — all of which users control with an easy-to-use remote. In V2, Wow Wee has added a vision color system that enables the robot to identify objects and see skin tones. The robot also waves, shakes hands and can respond and react to environmental noise. It won a 2006 Oppenheim Toy Award.
