What Is It?
This book retells seven of the world’s best-known folk tales, including “The Three Little Pigs” and “Goldilocks and the Three Bears,” in a fashion ideal for reading aloud so that parents and young children can enjoy the adventurous stories together.

What We Thought
“Storytime” provides a solid introduction to stories that children are likely to hear time and again, familiarizing them with the world of folk tales. For this reason, it carries lasting quality in any home library and can be passed down through generations. Some kids may lose interest because it’s rather text heavy, but that gives parents a chance to return to the stories often.

Why They’ll Want It
Seven stories makes for a great value and give children a whole week’s worth of bedtime reading. Kids will love the colorful, playful illustrations, and can learn lessons along with the characters while laughing at the dilemmas that entangle them. — Julie L. Jones, 11/27/06
