TDmonthly Product Review
Name: Me: Uncut and Uncensored Company: AVALANCHE PUBLISHING Age: All Ages Price: $12.95 Category: Books
What Is It? A double hardcover diary that closes with a lock, this is book lets girls express their good thoughts and bad without running them all together. Side one, “Uncut and Uncensored on Stuff I Love” is bright yellow and cheery, illustrated with a happy tween girl in a rollercoaster car, painting a rainbow. Side two, flipped over, is “Uncut and Uncensored on Stuff That Bugs, with the same Tweenie on the rollercoaster, but this time she’s going down, she’s mad, the cover’s red, the wind blows and lightning strikes. Both books are secured by one heart-shaped lock that has two keys. Stuff That Bugs pages are blue and stormy; Stuff I Love’s are yellow and splattered with flowers.
What We Thought “Uncut and Uncensored” is a great way for tween girls to deal with conflicting feelings without guilt. They can rant away when they feel like it, and rave on a day when that seems fine, too. Journaling is a wonderful way for tweens to deal with the frustrations and joys of everyday life and this double book gives them two ways to do it.
Why They’ll Want It If they’re a tween, they’re gonna want this book, because “it’s just so me!” The cartoon cover character is cute and fashionable, the drawings are bright and amusing, and the double diary means double the secrets, hence double the fun. Girls will especially appreciate the double-book design, because it’s different than any other book out there … and what tween doesn’t want to be unique?
