Butter-themed putty is one of the sensory-toy hits of the season. Crazy Aaron's, the Thinking Putty maker that Goliath acquired, sells three versions: the original yellow Better Butter, the teal Buttercream and the purple Berry Butter. Good Housekeeping named Better Butter Thinking Putty its "trendiest toy" pick from Amazon's 2026 Top 100+ Toys list (Good Housekeeping, Oct. 7, 2026). Two of the three were sold out on Crazy Aaron's own site when we checked on Oct. 27, 2026. Here is how they differ and where to find them.

What all three have in common
All three come as a tin with 60 grams (2.1 oz) of putty made from non-toxic silicone, and all three are made in the USA. Crazy Aaron's lists each at $15.00. The maker says the putty won't dry out and won't leave a sticky or slippery residue on your fingers, and you can stretch, bounce, pop, tear and sculpt it. Crazy Aaron's rates all three for ages 3 and up, with the warning "Choking Hazard. Contains Small Parts."
1. Better Butter Thinking Putty
The original: a yellow putty that Crazy Aaron's describes as super creamy and smooth, just like butter, with a mellow sweet scent. It was sold out on crazyaarons.com on Oct. 27 ($15.00 list). On Amazon it was $14.99, "available to ship in 1-2 days," and ranked No. 6 in Slime & Putty Toys and No. 363 across Toys & Games.

2. Buttercream Better Butter Thinking Putty
A teal putty that Crazy Aaron's says is "whipped to creamy perfection" and scented sweet like frosting. It was sold out on crazyaarons.com on Oct. 27 ($15.00 list), and we didn't find it from Crazy Aaron's on Amazon.
3. Berry Butter Better Butter Thinking Putty
A purple version with a sweet, fruity berry scent, which Crazy Aaron's calls ultra creamy, silky smooth and spreadable. It's the easiest of the three to get right now: it was in stock on crazyaarons.com at $15.00 on Oct. 27. On Amazon it was $14.99, in stock, and ranked No. 9 in Slime & Putty Toys and No. 627 across Toys & Games.

Which one to pick
- Want the one everyone is talking about? Better Butter, the original. On Oct. 27 Amazon had it at about list price.
- Need it in hand soon? Berry Butter. It was the only one in stock at Crazy Aaron's.
- Like a frosting scent? Buttercream, but expect to wait for a restock.
Who it's for as a gift: Kids 3 and up who like squishies and slime, and tweens, teens and adults who keep a fidget on their desk. Crazy Aaron's markets it to kids and adults alike. Because it comes in a small tin, it works as a stocking stuffer.
Pros: Smooth, buttery texture with a sweet scent; the maker says it never dries out and leaves no residue; made in the USA; Amazon's price matched list on the two versions it carried.
Cons: At $15 for 2.1 oz, it costs more than most single squishies; two of three were sold out at the maker on Oct. 27; all three are scented, which won't suit every kid; small-parts warning, so it's not for children under 3.
