Hottest Board Games for Holiday 2026: JinxO, Rebirth, UNO & More

Award winners, a new Forbidden legacy game and family party picks

From this year's German Game of the Year winners to new family party games, these are the board and party games with the most momentum heading into holiday 2026. Prices are manufacturer list prices (MSRP) unless noted.

JinxO (Dito!): The 2026 Spiel des Jahres Winner, $29.99

JinxO designer Martin Ang, Spiel des Jahres 2026

Indonesian designer Martin Ang's word-association party game, published as Dito! in Germany and as JinxO by Indonesia's Tabletoys, won the 2026 Spiel des Jahres, the industry's best-known game award. Players answer prompts and score by matching what others write. "It's not about knowledge, but about understanding others' perspectives," the jury said. JinxO is for 4 to 7 players ages 10 and up and plays in 30 to 45 minutes. It is distributed in the U.S. through ACD Distribution and Alliance at an MSRP of $29.99.

JinxO (Dito!): Pros

  • Won the 2026 Spiel des Jahres
  • No trivia knowledge needed. The jury says it is about understanding others' perspectives
  • 4 to 7 players, ages 10+, $29.99 MSRP

JinxO (Dito!): Cons

  • Needs at least 4 players
  • Plays in 30 to 45 minutes
  • Players write their answers, so pre-readers need help
  • Amazon's U.S. listing showed "Currently unavailable" on Oct. 20, 2026

Rebirth: Reiner Knizia's Kennerspiel des Jahres Winner, Now $42

Rebirth board game by Reiner Knizia, International English Edition

Rebirth, a tile-placement game set in Ireland and Scotland and published by Mighty Boards and Frosted Games, won the 2026 Kennerspiel des Jahres for experienced players. The win made Knizia the first designer to take all three Spiel des Jahres categories. The jury called its rules "elegant." Mighty Boards' International English Edition, for 2 to 4 players ages 10 and up, cut the MSRP to $42 from $55.

Rebirth: Pros

  • Won the 2026 Kennerspiel des Jahres, and the jury called its rules "elegant"
  • 2 to 4 players, ages 10+
  • The International English Edition's MSRP dropped to $42 from $55

Rebirth: Cons

  • The Kennerspiel award is for experienced players, so this isn't a first family game
  • Tops out at 4 players
  • Amazon US carries only the German edition, so we did not link it

Mooki Island: The Kinderspiel des Jahres Winner for Ages 4 and Up

Games take about 15 minutes, and it sells for about 15 euros in Germany and $14.99 on Amazon in the U.S. (Oct. 20, 2026). "Children can't get enough of" it, the jury said.
