Six new toys with prices, ages, pros and cons, from a tattoo printer to a giggling Elmo

Phomemo TK20 Bluetooth Temporary Tattoo Printer

Phomemo TK20 Bluetooth Temporary Tattoo Printer kit

Maker: Phomemo. Price: $43.99 on sale at phomemo.com; Amazon lists it at $39.98. Availability: phomemo.com says it ships within 48 hours; Amazon's listing showed a future availability date on Oct. 21 rather than in stock.

The ink-free 2-inch thermal printer pairs with a phone or tablet over Bluetooth and prints designs from Phomemo's app. Kids color the print with the included markers, lay transfer paper on top, cut it out and apply it like a regular temporary tattoo. The kit includes 4 markers, 40 tattoo sheets, 40 transfer sheets, safety scissors, adhesive-remover tape and a cleaning cloth. Phomemo says the tattoos last 1-2 days and come off with the tape or water, and it recommends a patch test on a small area of skin first.

Pros: No ink to buy; everything for 40 tattoos is in the box; a free library of designs and line art, with no subscription needed for the basics.
Cons: The AI design features require a paid subscription; Phomemo's own listing says ages 8 and up, even though Amazon's title targets kids 5 to 12; needs a phone or tablet.

Spin Master Bitzee Aquarium

Spin Master Bitzee Aquarium digital pet fish tank

Maker: Spin Master. Price: $39.99 on Amazon. Ages: 5 and up. Availability: in stock on Amazon on Oct. 21.

The Bitzee Aquarium is a water-free digital fish tank. Kids hatch, feed and evolve 30 aquatic characters, including a sea snail, shark, seahorse and mermaid, on a large display that responds when they dip a finger in, tap or turn the dial. Dropping one of the 5 included pellets makes a treat appear on screen. Kids play 2 mini games to earn coins for the Bitzee Shop and can unlock 6 more, and the lights can be customized so the tank doubles as room decor. It has a carry handle and includes 3 AA batteries.

Pros: Physical feeding and touch make digital-pet play more hands-on; batteries included; portable.
Cons: It is still a screen toy; the 5 small pellets are easy to lose.

Thames & Kosmos SolarFlower Kits

Kids build a mechanical flower from more than 100 pieces, and an included solar panel spins the petals through a planetary-gear system, with no batteries. The panel attaches to a window with a suction cup or to the flower's stem, and petals from different sets can be mixed and matched. There are four colorways: Ruby Ripple, Sapphire Swirl, Golden Sunrise and Purple Majestic.

Just Play Sesame Street Tickle Me Elmo Giggle Max

Sesame Street Tickle Me Elmo Giggle Max interactive plush

Maker: Just Play. Price: $39.92 on Amazon. Ages: 18 months and up (Amazon listing).

Just Play is marking the 30th anniversary of the 1996 Tickle Me Elmo with an 18-inch version it calls the biggest, tickliest Elmo ever. Tickling his belly, left foot or right foot starts the giggles, which build the more he is tickled; his arms flap, his mouth opens and closes and his body shakes, and he says phrases such as "That tickles Elmo!" and may get the hiccups. It runs on 4 AA batteries, which are included.

Pros: Three tickle spots and escalating reactions; batteries included; a nostalgia gift parents will enjoy too.
Cons: Loud and lively by design; at 18 inches it takes up shelf and bed space.

The Loyal Subjects Palworld Cheebee Micro Mystery Pal Egg 12-pack

Maker: The Loyal Subjects. Price: $96 on Amazon for the First Press Limited Edition 12-pack (about $8 an egg). Availability: in stock on Amazon on Oct. 21.

The first Palworld micro figures put one 1.5-inch Cheebee figure inside each reusable egg. The listing says the series has up to 15 Pals to collect, including Chillet, Lamball and Pengullet, with three rare and three ultra-rare figures that include special Gold and Silver Chillets. The eggs are blind-packed, so duplicates can happen.
