Oct. 1–4 did not bring a stack of wide U.S. street dates. The real cluster is SPIEL Essen, which the fair’s site sets for Oct. 22–24, 10 a.m.–7 p.m., and Oct. 25, 10 a.m.–6 p.m.
Wolfgang Kramer’s Bärenstich seats eight for €9.99
ABACUSSPIELE lists Bärenstich at €9.99 including tax. The shop page gives 3–8 players, 30 minutes, ages 8 and up, designer Wolfgang Kramer and art by Florian Biege. The box is 100 cards plus rules in German and English, EAN 4011898082623. When the page was checked it showed the game out of stock. The publisher describes bears chasing honey while bees get closer, and a warning that anyone who crowds the hive takes the stings.
Backseat Gamer’s Oct. 4 report called it a climbing card game headed to SPIEL Essen. Citing Board Game Beat, that piece said the deck runs 2 to 14, with five jokers and one beehive, and that each player starts with 13 cards. Lead the hive and everyone else reveals a card; the highest takes it. Empty your hand and the round ends. Leftover cards score their face value, the hive scores 20, and after four rounds the lowest total wins.
Cranio Creations has Crossing Heroes up as a preorder, SKU CC925, at €21.99. The shop lists 2–5 players, 30 minutes and ages 10 and up, and says day one is expected in October 2026, with a preview at Combo Festival. Play puts trial cards on a 3x3 grid with your hero in the center, then skill cards around the grid to meet each trial. Only finished trials score. After eight turns, the most victory points wins. The box lists 48 trial cards, 70 skill cards, 5 hero cards, 16 item tiles, 30 coins, two summary cards, a score marker and a rulebook.
Backseat Gamer’s Oct. 2 story named the designers as Johannes Goupy, co-designer of Faraway, and Matthieu Verdier, co-designer of Federation. That report said the design opened out from the twelve labours of Heracles so a five-player game would not repeat the same labour.
Devir’s U.S. page lists Gaudí at $49.99 and, when checked, out of stock. Dani Garcia designed it. Edu Valls did the illustration. Players move through Gaudí’s life and score in three pillars: Nature, Catalonia and Religion. Only the two lowest pillar scores count. Nature points come mostly from Nature cards, Catalonia mostly at the end of each round, and Religion mostly at the end. Three rounds move around a central chandelier, where players stop to draw cards and collect trencadís tiles.
Backseat Gamer’s Oct. 1 piece called it Devir’s headline Euro for SPIEL Essen, Oct. 22–25, with the English edition due in November, and put it third on BoardGameGeek’s hotness list that week. The report gives 1–4 players, 60 minutes and ages 10 and up, matching the box, and places Devir in Hall 3, stand D600. It ties the theme to 100 years since Gaudí’s death.
Braided Skies is Dan Germain’s competitive airship game in Andrew Bosley’s Smoking Bones universe, the first of a series and a single session rather than a campaign. Stonemaier says the webstore date is Oct. 14, 2026, with orders shipping over the following weeks from the U.S., Canada, Europe and Australia. It will be at Essen Spiel 2026. Local retail follows a few weeks after launch fulfillment, and online retail later, which the publisher put in late November. Jamey Stegmaier wrote on the page that the company does not take preorders and that buyers can get it at the Essen booth.
The box art shows 1–5 players, 60–90 minutes and ages 14 and up. Components include five player mats, a solo rulebook, 17 Automa cards and 15 drop-ship miniatures. Named localization partners include Feuerland, Grail Games, Maldito and Delta Vision. The page does not list a price.
