TDmonthly Recommends
To read about TDmonthly´s Holiday Season Forecast, click here. After talking with seven well-established retail storeowners in the Los Angeles and New York areas, TDmonthly recommends the following toys for the month of June: For girls ages 5 to 10, Sun Deco kits have seen a surge of sales with summer (and good weather for sunlight) arriving. All sorts of other arts and crafts kits are selling well, too, including Galt’s Bead Bonanza (especially for the 8 to 11-year-old girls). For the boys? The active ones ages 5 to 7 consider the Bungee Jumper king. And for the 8 to 10-year-old boys, there has been a rush in sales for Birdhouse Skateboard´s Tony Hawk line.
For kids who want to do skateboard moves without the skateboard, the Bungee Jumper is a super-soft, safe, indoor/outdoor pogo bouncer. With an extra-wide base of four-ply, non-skid rebound foam, attached by an elastic tether to a foam handle, the Bungee Jumper is easy to master. Kids learn to pogo up and down, and do one-handed stiffies, mule kicks, the Monkey Slap, and many other skate and snow board tricks. ToyDirectory Product ID#: 3776 (added 6/10/2005) . TD

Sun Deco kits allow kids to catch the sun with paints. Like home-made stained glass windows, each kit has clear plastic models to paint with every imaginable shade from glitter to psychedelic. When the sunlight hits them, they detonate with color. Kits range in price from $0.80 to $80. ToyDirectory Product ID#: 3775 (added 6/10/2005) . TD
Age Range: 9 and upGender: Boys
More active than Matchbox and more varied than G.I.Joe, Tech Deck Dudes are one part action figure, one part skateboarder, and all parts bizarre. There are over 100 regular Dudes with magnetic feet and skateboards with rolling wheels, as well as magnetic Dude playsets that feature the Dudes with wild accessory add-on pieces. Ideal for both the budding shredder and the older collector at the low price of $3.99 to $19.99. ToyDirectory Product ID#: 3774 (added 6/10/2005) . TD

These boards come in a variety of designs and are crafted for professionals and beginners alike. There is no assembly required, though many may wish to stock up on further Tony Hawk accessories down the road. ToyDirectory Product ID#: 3772 (added 6/10/2005) . TD
